Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gas contains flammable combinations of hydrocarbon gases like propane and butane. Stored in a 9kg (or larger) gas cylinder that’s secured in a metal cage outside the home, it provides an affordable, portable and safe form of energy.
Transferred and connected to appliances like stoves through piping, the system is designed to produce thermal fuel for domestic use throughout the entire household.
Fuelled by LP Gas and battery-powered, the water heater is held inside an existing free-standing, outdoor toilet to protect it from the elements. The wooden cabin housing the POVO Shower System is erected adjacent to the toilet with its proximity facilitating water heating, supply and drainage.
The wooden cabin is elevated off the ground and primed with oil once a year to prevent it from rotting. In the case of homes built as part of the ruling government’s Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP), the showers are installed in a vacant space inside the home.
The LP Gas heater instantly warms up the water with the twisting of the shower tap, delivering up to 11 litres of hot water per minute. As an alternative to geysers, kettles and pots that take up space and time, the LP Gas water heater warms up water instantly and eases the pressure that some conventional methods put on electricity and water supply.
A flue, on the roof of the toilet containing the water heater, encourages ventilation and channels out the minimal emissions that gas produces. POVO Gas Solutions’ thermodynamic process is efficient and clean. The POVO Gas System is installed by trained installers who work with licensed POVO Gas Solutions entrepreneurs.
The refining, distribution, trading and installation of LP Gas systems is regulated by the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of South Africa (LPGSASA). Under the guidelines offered by the association, our teams are trained to deliver POVO Gas Solutions and encourage the safe use within households through safety tips.
Trainees undergo a five-day LP Gas Basic Installer Course to acquire certification as installers.
